ArtMatter is an independent publishing project that took root in London in 2023, driven by a commitment to crafting books that explore the intersection of modernity and tradition in art, design and culture.
Our first publication, Art of Wax, delves into the fascinating material of wax as a medium for artistic expression, traversing its historical significance to its contemporary relevance with studio demonstrations by leading practitioners. The upcoming titles include Mitsuro Hikime by artists Kumiko Kihara and Elsa Tierney.
ArtMatter is committed to producing books that explore the practical and theoretical facets of contemporary art and design practice, with a particular focus on the disciplines of sculpture, photography and design. As part of this, we also curate out-of-print books that align with our thematic focus. These hard-to-find publications are available in our pre-owned section, accompanied by links to online archives wherever possible.
We welcome and encourage submissions and proposals for new publications. If you think your proposal fits our project please send us an email with an outline of your proposal. Please note that we are a small team and may not be able to reply to all proposals immediately.
